10 Money Saving Travel Tips for Your Next Orlando Vacation

Rent a car. While this may sound expensive, it may actually save you money. Consider renting a car instead of using the airport shuttle. Just be sure your resort offers complimentary parking on premises. This will give you the flexibility of having available transportation at any time.

Make your own hotel reservations. Many resorts offer additional discounts and specials on their websites, so be sure to check these out while you are deciding which resorts to stay at.

Take advantage of coupons. Whether it is for resorts, food, or attractions, coupons will save you money and they can be found just about everywhere. Try looking at hotel’s websites, in local newspapers, at convenience stores, etc. Always read the fine print carefully for terms and conditions of the coupon though.

Give your children a set amount of spending money. By doing this ahead of time, it may avoid the hassles of your children wanting things throughout your vacation. This may help control your spending on them as well.

Donate to ‘Adopt an Angel’ at Mike Ditka Resorts

Mike Ditka Resorts has become an official ’adopt an angel’ location for the 2009 Angel Tree Program which is sponsored by The International Drive, I-Ride Trolley, Local 6 MKMG, and The Salvation Army. This program aims to provide the children in Orange County with joy and happiness this holiday season.

Mike Ditka Resorts will be placing a Christmas tree at their resort where employees or guests can ‘adopt an angel’. The tree will be decorated with angel tags which will provide a first name, age, and gender of a child who will receive a gift. Contributors may remove one or more tags from the tree and purchase appropriate clothes and/or toys for the child.

The Angel Tree Program aims to adopt out 500 angels this holiday season which will provide new clothing for families who are registered for holiday assistance or for children from childcare centers and foster homes in the Orange County Community.

Mike Ditka Resorts will be accepting new, unwrapped clothing and/or toys for these children until December 8th.

EVENT: Kenny Rogers Christmas & Hit Tour 2009

Kenny Rogers Christmas & Hit Tour 2009 is coming to the Theater at Silver Spurs Arena this November 30th at 8:00 p.m. Kenny Rogers will be singing many holiday classics, along with many of his biggest hits. Having become a tradition over the course of Rogers’ storied career, the tour is now in its 28th year, making it one of the longest running and most popular Christmas tours in history. 2009 Fantasy Football Event is a great success!

At points during the event, we had a line extending from our booth halfway through the ballroom! See accompanying pictures. Mike Ditka Resorts—Runaway Beach Club recently completed replacing the traditional incandescent light bulbs in use throughout the luxury suites with the highly efficient, energy saving compact fluorescent light bulbs or CFL’s. Using less energy is beneficial in that it lessens our carbon footprint on the environment.

We are very excited about this change over, and currently examining and considering other green projects that will benefit our environment.

Mike Ditka Resorts Provides All Expenses Paid Dream Trip to 7-year Old Girl Who Had Lemonade Stand Shut Down

Mike Ditka Resorts is providing the 7-year old girl who had her lemonade stand shut down last week by authorities in Tulare, California, with an all expense paid trip for her and her family to Mike Ditka Resorts—Runaway Beach Club in Orlando, FL. The trip includes roundtrip airline tickets to Orlando, Three Day Hopper Passes to Disney, and a three night, four day stay in a two bedroom luxury villa at Mike Ditka Resorts—Runaway Beach Club.

The 7-year old entrepreneur, Daniela Earnest, set up shop this past Monday to earn money for a family vacation to Disneyland. That same day a city code enforcement officer saw the stand and had it shut down for not having a permit and operating on a busy intersection.

The next day, Daniela and her father went in front of the city council to appeal the decision. To date, a compromise has not been reached.

Upon learning of Daniela’s predicament, Mike Ditka Resorts immediately contacted the family to offer and help Daniela achieve her goal of taking her family to Disney. The girl’s father, Edward Earnest, was absolutely elated, but thought it important Daniela still work to earn the trip.

“The whole point of the lemonade stand was to teach her that we all must work for something—nothing is for free” her father told Executives at Mike Ditka Resorts. With that, a compromise was made.

Mike Ditka Resorts has a close relationship with Give Kids the World Foundation, a Central Florida charity that fulfills the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses by bringing them and their families to Florida for a cost-free memorable vacation. Daniela will earn the trip by setting up her lemonade stand at Mike Ditka Resorts – Runaway Beach Club one afternoon and donating her time and her lemonade to these kids and their families.

Children and their families from Give Kids the World will all meet up at Mike Ditka Resorts—Runaway Beach Club to enjoy an afternoon of fun and food by the pool—and of course— Daniela’s lemonade!
