Mike Ditka, owner of Mike Ditka Resorts, is also one of the Board of Directors for the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund. Mike Ditka joined this foundation as a way to help retired NFL players who have been dealing with hardships since their time on the field; many of them who are now facing physical, mental, and emotional problems due to the hardships their bodies faced while playing one of America’s greatest games.
Mike Ditka Resorts actively participates in raising money for this organization. Each year Mike Ditka Resorts hosts a golf outing where Coach Ditka golf’s with the public to raise money for the Gridiron Greats Foundation.
Mike Ditka Resorts also accepts donations at Mike Ditka Resorts- Runaway Beach Club. Those who donate will receive their names on a football which will be placed on Mike Ditka Resort’s Wall of Fame.
Currently, over 150 other retired NFL players and coaches participate in raising money and awareness for the needs of their former teammates. These former players and coaches partake in special events including autograph signing events, memorabilia auctions, corporate and public donation drives, sponsorships and special Super Bowl related events to help raise money.
